Heart Chakra Development Practice - Daily Gratitude
This exercise is designed for those recovering from heart break, loss/grief, or any life conditions that may have led you to associate being connected to your heart with fear, resulting in you disconnecting from that aspect of yourself. You can adapt it to what feels most comfortable for you. The objective is to practice within a safe space reconnecting with your heart through simple things you’re grateful for to begin to recover that connection with yourself rather than the complexity of a new person or place.
Start by finding a comfortable position where you body feels supported.
For this exercise, I advise to do it in a place where you feel reasonably safe and have access to privacy, that may be in bed or in the bathroom. Ideally you don’t have the added worry of being perceived, heard or needing to scan for nervous system safety.
Place one hand on your heart (if you are able) or hold yourself in a loving way.
Take 3 sets of slow in-breaths through your nose and drawn out exhales through your mouth.
Think of your breath. However it moves, however it comes to you. Feel it, in whatever way you're able.
Now send it love.
Think of your body. Just as it is, today, right now. Feel that in your heart.
Now send it love.
Think of your heart itself. Still here, still with you. Feel it.
Now send it love.
Think of your mind. However it moves, quiet or busy or somewhere between. Feel that.
Now send it love.
Think of someone who cares for you, that feels easy, safe, and simple. This could even be the Universe, a pet, someone you haven’t met personally, guides, ancestors or Angels. Let them come to mind. Feel that in your heart.
Now send them love.
Think of this exact moment. You here with your heart doing this activity. Nothing more than this. Feel it.
Now send this moment in time love.
Think of yourself. All of you, exactly as you are today, in this exact moment. Feel that in your heart.
Now send yourself love.
Take in one final breath here, feeling that breath fill your heart, expanding your chest, opening up your shoulders. You are done.
