My Story

A woman with short brown hair smiling while sitting at a desk with a newspaper in front of her. She has colorful tattoos on her arms, including a butterfly on her right arm and a red design on her left arm. She wears a white ruffled blouse and jewelry. A vase of pink and yellow tulips is on the desk, and decorative shelves with plants and artwork are on the wall behind her.

I was born into a family where Reiki, intuition and energy work weren't unusual, they were simply part of everyday life. My mum is a Reiki Master and intuitive, and those practices stretch back through multiple generations on my maternal side. Visiting meditation temples, exploring holistic practices and talking about energy were woven into my childhood long before I understood they were unusual experiences.

Like many people, though, I needed to find my own path. For years I stepped away from the wellness world and built a career in academia, design, nonprofit leadership and diversity, equity and inclusion. As a queer, neurodivergent woman living with disabilities and a nonlinear mental health journey, I became deeply interested in accessibility, not just in workplaces, but in every space people are expected to belong.

Eventually I realized something. The barriers I was helping organizations remove were the same barriers I kept encountering in wellness spaces…
